“I was watching a Spotted Saddle Horse class at Calsonic when in came the children being lead by volunteers and sidewalkers from Great Strides. I told my sister that’s what I want to do.
I started with Great Strides as a volunteer. My interest was peaked with the enthusiasm of the children and adults. In 2007, I became a Certified Instructor with PATH.
The most memorable child I had is one that screamed, didn’t want to ride. I put him on a bareback pad and the screaming stopped. He was concentrating on balance more than screaming. The next year he came back a total change: he ran up the ramp and was excited about getting on the horse.
Another memorable moment is when a child said that the only time she feels good is when she is on a horse.”
